Naples

A chaotic noisy friendly city with laundry strung across streets; rainbow peace flags; stray dogs everywhere; children in fancy dress for carnival.

Pompeii

We went to Pompeii by local train, a trip of about 30 minutes. It is a huge place! We got audio guides and spent almost 5 hours on the 4 hour tour!

Herculaneum

Herculaneum is very compact as compared to Pompeii. The houses are also in much better shape. Even some of the wooden items are still intact.

Capri

A lovely day in Capri with a walk to Villa Jovis, a picnic, and along the coast to see the Arco Naturale. Capri out of season gives you an idea of why it became popular.
